Types of Radar Detectors Carried at New Orleans’ Mobile One Stores

There are three types of radar detectors carried at Mobile One Auto Sound: corded, cordless, and remote mount. Each of these radar detectors works by picking up on the waves or laser activity from law enforcement officers’ devices, and some are more sensitive than others.

A remote mount radar detector is a radar detector that is permanently mounted in your vehicle. This radar detector, offered at Mobile One Auto Sound in Metairie, Gretna and Covington, helps prevent theft, in addition to detecting law enforcement radar and laser speed detection equipment. Remote mount radar detectors are usually placed in a hidden location, like in your vehicle’s grill. This is a custom installation job that our team of professionals at all of our locations are happy to do for you.

A cordless radar detector gives our Mobile One customers the most placement flexibility, because no cord is needing to be plugged in, limiting your options of placement. Cordless radar detectors are the easiest transfer between vehicles, if need be. Cordless radar detectors can be mounted high or low, to the left or the right, but it is typically best to mount them high for optimal performance of radar detection. Mounting them high allows the device to see and detect further – over other vehicles, hills, etc., giving you optimal time to know when law enforcement is near. In addition, the device should be mounted parallel to the ground, not pointing downward or upward.

A corded radar detector is placed on your windshield by suction cups, and it has a cord connected to it. Most Mobile One customers who choose to mount this type of radar detector choose to do so near the rear view mirror. Corded radar detectors are generally known as the most trustworthy of the bunch, but unlike the benefits of hidden remote radar detectors, the possibility of theft is higher. Corded detectors tend to have the best range of detection, compared to the others.

And as an award-winning, industry-leading brand, all our New Orleans locations carry and highly recommend Escort radar detectors. Call or stop in at your nearest Mobile One location to learn about our selection of Escort radar detectors to see which one will fit your needs.

Why Purchase a Radar Detector for Your Car

Mobile One Auto Sound’s radar detectors can give you peace of mind and a more enjoyable driving experience, every single time you get in the car. Radar detectors allow you to drive with confidence at all times and can save you from the hassle and expense of a speeding ticket. Nothing is worse than hearing sirens and seeing a police car coming after you, after you’ve been speeding – whether by accident or you’re in a hurry. And don’t worry – radar detectors are legal for non-commercial vehicles in 49 states, and they are not meant to promote unsafe driving.

How Radar Detectors Save Our Customers Money

While you have many choices when it comes to radar detectors, most radar detector prices start at about $199. It may not be as big an investment as your car, but it is not exactly a cheap buy to get a radar detector for your car. But this small investment will save you a lot of time, money and stress in the end, especially if you’ve had trouble with tickets and fines for speeding in the past (or currently).

When you start crunching the numbers of the fines, court fees, and insurance rate hikes that you experience when you get one or more speeding tickets, each ticket could be costing you thousands of dollars. A radar detector is a great investment for your vehicle to help you avoid tickets, fines, insurance jumps, and stress.
